Respite Care means to take a break from the daily challenges of taking care of your loved one. Blue Angel Care can help you plan your respite break for a few hours or for as long as a necessary.
Over 6 million people in the UK provide unpaid care by looking after their loved ones, friends and partners for a few hours a week or on a full time basis. With an aging population and people living longer it is expected that this figure will increase to over 9 million people by 2027.
Caregiving can be demanding and often has an impact on the carers own wellbeing due to isolation, stress and exhaustion. Respite Care can provide a welcome break.
Finding the right balance between caregiving and looking after your own health requires planning and recognition of the importance of rest to revitalise the body.
Planning Your Break
Our respite care service is designed to support you and give you piece of mind while we look after your loved one as you take a much-deserved break.
To prevent burnout due to both mental and physical demands of the role, we recommend you plan and schedule frequent short breaks to allow you time to recharge and recover.
Respite can last anywhere from a few days to several weeks away from your caregiving role.
Contact your local Blue Angel Care office and one of our Care Specialists will assist you by:
- Assessing the needs of both you and your loved one to ensure personalised care and support,
- Identifying Care Givers to match your loved one’s choices, needs and preferences.
Our friendly reliable and compassionate Care Givers are carefully vetted using background checks and trained to support your loved one with daily living skills such as bathing, dressing, feeding, or toileting including meal preparation, shopping, housekeeping and companionship such as taking them to the cinema, pub or shopping.
Blue Angel Care also offers a sitting service and 24 hour live-in care for those with complex needs.
Emergencies due to sudden illness can occur at any time and can be a cause for worry for carers concerned about who will be able to support their loved one whilst they recuperate.
Our emergency respite support for carers will ensure your loved one receives continued care at short notice during your absence.
